Excuses are like armpits...

Everyone has one and they all stink.
Soooo... I could say we've been waayy to busy to blog. Or I could say its Ryne's fault because he started this whole thing and he hasn't blogged in months and left it all up to me. Or I could say my computer just takes too long to update pictures and what's fun about a blog without pictures? Or I could say a bunch of stuff but I'm not. Sorry, we just stink at blogging. Too bad too, because it'd be way more fun to get paid to blog than to do actual work.

Anyways, we left off telling you about our new couch. Well, it finally came in! Yay! And we L.O.V.E it. It's so comfortable! We got it in sometime during August. (Oh! and we ended up selling our old couch the day our new one came in! WooHoo free money! The guys didn't even try talking us down or anything.) After we got our couch situated and everything, we realized we had a problem. Our new couch was a light color, our carpet is a light color, and our walls were a light color. EVERYTHING blended in together. It did not look very fun. Ryne and I decided right then that we were going to paint. :) And that weekend we got our paint cans and accomplished a project for the weekend. We painted it a light gray. And I must say, I am very satisfied with how it turned out! (Thanks ML for the color advice. And thanks to Ryne's mom and Madison for supervising our first painting experience!)

Painting!
Next on the agenda are fun pillows and still a chair for Ryne.

Our weekends have been filled with family, friends, and football.

We made a trip to Florida to see my aunt, both my uncles, and my granny. I was sooo glad we got to spend time together! It was a fun long weekend with some of the people I love most. Not only did we get to see them, but we rode down with my mom and dad. I am so thankful for the time we have together.

We made a trip to Auburn for the Auburn/Florida Atlantic game to spend some time with some of our best friends. Words cannot express how nice it was to visit with Mary Louise, Michael, Gina, and Travis. We had the best time!

The following weekend, we made a trip up to Huntsville to see some friends get married. Not only that, but we got to see Gina and Travis two weekends in a row. They make my heart smile. Jackson became friends with Mia and sweet little Bella. It was fun seeing some of our Auburn friends.

For the Auburn/Florida game, we went back to the loveliest village on the plains for tailgating fun and to visit all our friends who came back to town. It was so fun to see the 151 girls (hey ladies! sorry it took me so long to update! :), and Terah, and KevKev, and the Potts, just everybody!

And now, that pretty much brings up to the past couple of weeks. We had fun carving pumpkins with Madison and Ryan. We also had a great time at our church's fall festival! I just finished up with A Meal with Jesus study. Monday nights were such a blessing to me. So, if you're looking for a great book, there's my recommendation!

I'll finish up our post with some fun! We are still pinteresting like crazy! For our fall decorations we've made a vase out of a craft pumpkin. My wonderful husband built me a mantle. (But, I've got to give him all the credit, not that addicting website. He came up with the idea out of crown molding all by himself.) Several weeks ago, I made a ribbon wreath for football season. But you should totally check out the super cute door hanger my sister-in-law made us. My ribbon wreath was taken off the door as soon as Kristin gave the Auburn door hanger to us. The latest craft, was my burlap/linen ruffle Christmas tree skirt. I fell in love with it on pinterest and just had to make one. I will definitely be making some burlap stockings to match. (How silly would it be to make Jack a stocking too?) (So yeah, if you want a Christmas tree skirt but don't have any time to make one, I can make one for you and sell it to you...)

"fetching pins..."

Well, I am very sad to say that the end of summer is here. (I can't believe I just admitted that.) It has been absolutely wonderful and I sure do wish it would last longer. But since it can't, I figured I would show you what Ryne and I have been up to as far as crafts go. This summer, I have become obsessed with an amazing website called Pinterest. No doubt, I probably spent about 25% of my summer on it (Please don't judge me). Its sooo cool. For real. There are so many cool ideas on there. I've bookmarked so many websites with things I want to build/make. But anyways here are some pictures!

This actually wasn't from Pinterest, Ryne came up with the idea all on his own. I brought some vases home from Hobby Lobby and Ryne made them into lamps. We each have one for our nightstands in our bedroom.

Here's some silhouette's that I read a tutorial on how to make. I sure hope they kind of resemble our family and not some randos off the street. If needed, use your imagination :)

And here is a work in progress. It was very difficult to cut cork and draw the states accurately. Once again, this might be something you have to use your imagination on! And yes, I do realize there's a good chance that Rhode Island is missing. :) But anyways, this will become a map of the places Ryne and I have visited. We've bought map pins to stick in the cities. Our goal is to find a map of Auburn to modpodge to some canvas. (Stephen got us a map that we might use. But if you have any ideas where there might be one in color, please let us know!) Then we'll stick the map on top. Next goes the pins! No worries, I'll post the finished project.

This was one of my first projects on my new sewing machine! It's a casserole carrier. It's even lined with insulation to keep my dishes cold or hot. I haven't used it yet, but I'm awaiting the opportunity.

This idea wasn't from Pinterest either; I think I saw it in a Martha Stewart book or something. It's a tiered tray I can use for parties or what not. We got the dishes on sale at World Market. (Man! I wish there was one here!) And then I just glued them together. It was super easy! Instead of using a plate for the top tier, I decided to use a bowl. That way, I could put put some dips or something like that in it if I wanted.

Well, that's the end of most of our crafting. Hopefully in a few days you'll be able to see pictures of our new couch!! Yay!!!

Feliz Cumpleanos!

Happy birthday to my sweet, adorable, wonderful, lovely husband! I am so incredibly blessed that you are in my life. I hope that you had an amazing birthday! I love you!

Here are some pictures from today:

Ryne with the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cake I made him.  We also had homemade vanilla ice cream. (Thank Gina and Travis for our ice cream maker! One of the best gifts ever.)

Here's the birthday wreath I made and hung on our door to bring some extra festive-ness.

Ryne took off of work today, so we got to spend the day together. I sure hope that he had as much fun as I did. Ryne makes me smile so much! Here is a picture of Jack Jack looking cute and Ryne in the background looking even cuter. :)

Ryne opening his presents.

And I think I'll end with a little song. It goes a little like this....
Feliz Cumpleanos a ti!
Feliz Cumpleanos a ti!
Feliz Cumpleanos a Ryneeeee!
Feliz Cumpleanos a ti!

Love

"This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." 1 John 4:10

With Jack Jack at the groomer's, this morning has been very relaxing. (Not that Jackson is a bother, but you know, I haven't had to play fetch or make sure he's not getting into anything dangerous and all the other little things that normally fill up my day at home with a puppy.) After reading a bit, I logged onto the computer and decided that today would be a good day to blog. It suddenly hit me that Ryne and I have not blogged about the most important thing we could share about our lives: the love of God. :)

The verse I shared is one of my favorites. I am filled with thankfulness and amazement at the thought of God loving us so much that He sent Jesus to pay for my sins, my wrongdoings, so that I am able to have eternal life with Him.

Want to know something cool? He did the same for you!

Back By Popular Demand..

Or back by the reminder of one :) Thanks Mrs. Mary Louise Kennedy.

It's been awhile since Ryne and I have blogged, so there's a lot of updating to be done!

Let's see, where to begin? Well, I guess we can start with Jackson. He is still a fur ball of energy and is just as cute as ever. In May, Jackson graduated from puppy school. He is so smart. He can do all kinds of tricks! He can shake, high five, roll over, play dead, fetch, and of course the basics like sit and lay down. We honestly haven't worked on his tricks in a while, but maybe soon we can add more to his accomplishments. Jackson is doing really well with come when called; however, I do not trust him with walking without his leash. He gets distracted too too easily. He makes me smile so much.

Jack's graduation. Look at him being cute!
In May, we also celebrated my birthday. Ryne gave me a new sewing machine, so I've had lots of projects added to my list. I love it! I am currently looking for a cute sewing table for Ryne to build me, so if you have any ideas be sure to let me know. Along with my sewing machine, Ryne promised me cake decorating classes and I am so excited. We haven't signed up yet because the schedule hasn't worked for us, but soon!
In June, Ryne and I had our first anniversary. Yay! :) We spent the weeknend in Savannah. It was so nice and pretty! We stayed in this cutesy bed and breakfast. They had the best red velvet cake in the world. The cream cheese icing was sooo good! I loved the little town squares in Savannah; they were so pretty. Even though it was super hot, it was fun to walk around the town and visit the little shops.

Going with the tradition of first anniversaries, we ate a slice of our wedding cake. It was fun but ooooh so gross! Note to those who haven't saved their cake yet, make sure you wrap that sucker good!! Ours wasn't in a very good container and got freezer burnt. Sad, I know.

Now that brings us to July. We have become obsessed with the television show Bones. We've found seasons 1-4 on sale, so we've marathon watched all those. Man, that Bones and Booth! They make me laugh. I can't wait until season 5 goes on sale so we can watch those and then season 6 is on hulu so we'll be all caught up for the new season!
Oooh, and something very exciting, we bought a new couch this past weekend. I am soo excited! Unfortunately we don't get it until 35 days. But we got to pick out our fabric and our cushions (down cushions!) and everything else. I can't wait to nap on the chaise.

Now, we are on a mission looking for a leather chair and ottoman for Ryne. Per Ryne's instructions: No recliner, no rocking, and no nail heads. So, its been kind of tough finding the perfect chair. Ryne kinda likes this crazy green leather chair but I don't think either one of us is bold enough to actually commit to it.

Well, until next time! :)

Making the New Old!

Well for Valentines Day this year I decide to get my lovely Wife a china cabinet. She had been wanting a china cabinet but considering they are about 8 million bucks and normally quite large, I needed an alternative. So, I just figured I could build one, doesn't seem that hard right ? I searched out for one that was small enough for what we needed and wouldn't cost me two arms. I found a plan and then changed very little to it, because it was about perfect for what I wanted. After I built it, Lindsey and I finished it by painting it yellow, I mean YELLOW! We both thought it was super super bright at first then it started to grow on both of us. We talked about trying to "antique" it or disstress it but never did. Well a month and a half later, we finally got to it.

This is how it started. This is the YELLOW I was talking about.

I didn't take any pictures of this but I sanded the whole thing before we applied the stain. I concentrated on the edges and corners so they would show more.

This is how she turned out!

Also, here are some closer pictures.

This is the bottom which added some very needed space for cookbooks in our small kitchen.

And this is kinda how it looks in our dining room.
